Now more than ever is the time to take good care of yourself.
One way to do that is to continue fueling your body consistently and practicing mindfulness.
With more time spent at home, it makes sense that your eating patterns and exercise routine might look a little different than normal. Show yourself kindness and go easy on yourself. It’s ok to take this time to rest your body, to eat foods that aren’t necessarily balanced, and to “just be.”
Use these tips to practice self-care during this time and practice gratitude.
Tip #1: Your Body STILL Needs to be Nourished
Yep, you are still needing food – that has not changed even though your “normal” routine has changed. Your amazing body is still doing all the normal things like breathing, pumping blood, talking, walking, etc. So guess what… it still requires food.
Even though your schedule might have changed up and you feel like you are not as active, your body still needs to have nourishment without judgment. Right now, give your body and you the permission to eat without judgment and to nourish your body.
Tip #2: Find Your Structure
Let’s get one thing clear first – you need structure, not control. Structure right now helps us all not feel out of control with these uncertain times. So what does the structure look like for you? The great part is you get to decide and design it. If you need help, we got you. We can help you build in a plan. Just schedule with us today.
Not a rigid, black and white structure that your very gray life and these *unique* circumstances couldn’t possibly fit into. You need a flexible structure that’s a balance of self-care, self-discipline, and self-compassion. Think through your day – when you wake up, sitting down to eat, getting outside when you can – and building in self-compassion time.
Tip #3: Choose Activities You LOVE!
When was the last time you got to curl up on the couch and read your favorite book? Or paint with all those art supplies that have been in your closet for years? What if, right now, you set aside time to do what you love? IF not now, when? That might be one of our favorite questions to ask clients. If not now, then when will you get to do these things that you love? Stop putting these fun things on hold and start leading with self-care and compassion and enjoy what you love.
We can’t wait to see how you continue to put your health and well-being first and make self-care a priority.
