iLW: Where did you go to school? What degree(s) do you hold?
Bridget: Texas A&M – Bachelor’s of Science in Nutrition Science. I also have a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in accounting from my former life.
iLW: Do you enjoy cooking? What do you cook?
Bridget: I do enjoy cooking! Some days I like to try new recipes; other days I want something tried and true and easy like spaghetti or flatbread pizza. I love getting together with family to cook together for holidays or just for fun. We have a tradition of getting together to make Chinese food. We spend most of the day together, cooking foods we don’t make the rest of the year. It’s so fun getting to cook and eat together.
iLW: As a registered dietitian, what do you wish everyone knew?
Bridget: Food is not the enemy!
iLW: Who is your role model and why?
Bridget: Jessica Fletcher: She’s strong, confident, and takes care of herself. She’s kind and gives back to her community and helps others. She loves her hometown, but also travels the world visiting family and friends. And she solves a murder every week!
iLW: What experience as an RD has been life-changing?
Bridget: I love seeing my clients become more knowledgeable about nutrition and more confident in their food choices. For many, this means relieving a lot of anxiety and stress around food, allowing them to really enjoy their food again and to feel so much better. Watching that transformation is amazing!
iLW: Why did you choose to become an RD?
Bridget: I was an accountant and realized I wanted a job that allowed me to help people. I’ve always been interested in health and I love talking about food, so becoming a dietitian was perfect. Now I get to help people feel better, be healthier, and enjoy their food. I love my job!
