One of the best weight-loss tools isn’t a magical food or supplement — it’s learning how to PLAN what you’re going to eat every day. In fact, I’ve found that nothing derails a well-intentioned diet quite like not knowing in advance what, where, and when you’ll be eating.
Part of planning involves keeping your kitchen stocked with staples such as healthy cereal, eggs, skim milk, fresh and frozen vegetables, and canned soup, as well as homemade or store-bought frozen meals.
Planning also means keeping a stash of healthy snacks at the office, and an “emergency” item in your handbag or briefcase when stopping for lunch isn’t an option or you’re forced to go for long stretches between meals.
Planning for restaurant meals is another great way to stay on top of your weight-loss goals; you can either call the restaurant beforehand to find out what’s on the menu, or check to see if it’s posted online. If you’re on my online program, you’ll find a list of restaurant options in the book and on the site.
