This summer has been like no other in Austin, Texas right?!
Just this morning we went for a walk at 8 am and did not come back drenched in sweat, which feels like a miracle, to say the least. The summer always reminds us to be mindful of the sunshine, its ability to burn you and nourish you. I’m talking about Vitamin D.

Vitamin D and Your Health
Your immune system functions its best when you are getting enough Vitamin D.
Vitamin D may help decrease the inflammatory response, while increasing the immune cells’ production. Adults who have low levels of this vitamin are more likely to report having experienced a recent cold, cough, or upper respiratory tract infection. Also, there has been more research coming out with the link of low Vitamin D and COVID-19.
It has also been linked to your mood. Along with getting outside in the sunshine to boost your mood, this vitamin can also play a role in helping you to turn that low mood around. If you are struggling with depression, it could help to have your levels checked by your healthcare provider.
Vitamin D has many benefits for the human body. Whether you get it through sunlight, diet, supplements, or a combination of all three, make sure you are receiving enough of this nutrient. It’s an important part of overall health.
